Yesterday's Obatala Festival

Obatala Festival 2014 Ile Iere,
Republic Trinidad & Tobago Caribbean

Republic Trinidad & Tobago  was blessed another year around with the hosting of the Annual Obatala Festival hosted by Oloye Oriyomi Orisagbemi – Ojise Obatala Edena ati Olori Yemoo  Iretiola  and members of the Doyle family and Ita Oosa .

Many gathered to serve the Orisa, and people came from a;ll over Republic Trinidad & Tobago and beyond. Guests came from Santa Cruz, WoodBrook, Diego Martin, St, James, Maloney, Barataria, Petit Valley, Moruga, Sangre Grande, Tunapuna, Arima, South and Central Trinidad & Tobago, Tobago .

As is the practice over the year’s there was a Street Procession, carrying the symbol of Obatala through the streets of the community ,spreading the blessings of Peace and Tranquility to One and ALL.

The procession was accompanied by a police detail that is customary on such occasions.

Visitation of the Orisa and the energies of the ritual were seen manifest during the route of the procession.

Opening the event was Babalawo Babatunji Bandele , and he was accompanied by young drummers under ten years ( 10 yrs. ) of age who gave a good showing of their drum skills .

Members of The Council of Traditional Afrikan Chiefs of Trinidad & Tobago were in attendance and participation as well as Chiefs of other shrines  who are not as yet members of  COTACTT.

Among persons present were Agba La Croix, Chief Baba Mokun Awo, Chief Agbayegun, Chief  Sangosegun, Oloye Ogunrinola of Ile Ife, Olori Adetola, Oludari Agbaiye Egbe Onisin Eledumare – Esubiyi Olutoyin, Agba Olusino, Iya Sangowumi , Agba Pearl Jones, Agba Kambiri de Suza,Yeye Iyewa Ifayemi Somorin, Oga Onilu Ifalade,  Oga Onilu Everald Watson, Akende Rudder, Akilah Jaramogi, Agba Theodora Ulerie and Oloye Orawale Oranfe –  Oluto Alagba of COTACTT, among many others of stature and respect.

Among the shrines/organizations represented were  Ile Isokan, Osun/ Osouna Motivational Center, Orunmila Temple, Ile Ijosin Otura Meji – Awon Osun, Kenny Cyrus Alkebu -lan Ile Ijuba,Ile Iwe Yoruba, Fondes Amandes Reforestation  Project, and Egbe Onisin Eledumare.

It is the hope of this SITE THAT WE MAY HAVE SOME PICTURES AND AN OFFICIAL RELEASE FROM ITA OOSA TO SHARE ON THIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL.
