Meet Ooni of Ife
Oba Okunade Sijuwade II, the fiftieth Ooni of Ile-Ife. He was born on 1st January 1930 at Ile-Ife to the Ogboru ruling house, he is the grandson of the royal majesty Ooni Sijuwade Adelekan Olubuse I. He studied at Abeokuta Grammar School, Abeokuta and Oduduwa College in Ile-Ife, all in Yorubaland and later proceeded to Northampton College in the United Kingdom where he studied business management.
He was enthroned in December 1980 following the death of his predecessor Ooni Adesoji Aderemi in July 1980 who preceded Ooni Ademiluyi Ajagun after 20yrs of reign.

Ile-Ife, Ile Oduduwa, the cradle of Yoruba ko ma se daru lai lai
Since Oduduwa, many years ago, Ile-Ife has been regarded by the Yorubas as the cradle of their race, the land of the gods and the Ooni of Ife is referred to as God’s own representative on earth – Arole Oduduwa, Oluaye, Iku Alase, Orisa Keji – and regarded with awe and reverence.
